SPAIN V HOLLAND

0' Getting set for kickoff, and its the most anticipated match of the group stages, the rematch from 2010, and both teams with something to prove. I dont think anyone doubts that this will be any less intense than the matchup in Johannesburg four years ago. The dutch ditching their normal Orange for their alternate blue kits, and Spain in white. Joga Bonito.

8' And the first real chance of the game sees Sneijder through on goal but a brilliant save by Casillas keeps it level. Spain controlling possession as expected, and the brasillian fans showering Diego Costa touches with boos. The dutch playing a patient game in midfield, and Spain playing their probing style.

13' Dutch defense giving up the ball dangerously but Diego Costa can't make up his mind on putting a shot on goal and it gets played out to touch. You have to wonder if the crowd's consistent and persistent booing are affecting him.

26' A beautiful ball in through Diego Costa and he gets taken down and the penalty is awarded, perhaps under some controversy. Xabi Alonso converts the penalty, poweful and into the bottom left corner, and its 1-0 to Spain.

31' The dutch making some strong attacks now, and a dangerous cross by Robben goes in and Persie just inches away from being able to make contact. The goal has definitely opened up the game, and both sides making excellent runs. This is some world class football we're being privy to.

42' A beautiful run and through ball by Iniesta sees David Silva in on goal and he tries to chip the keeper but the Dutch goalie gets a hand on it. A beautiful chance. And just a minute later van Persie gets in and heads a beautiful ball past Casillas. A beautiful run in by Persie in behind Sergio Ramos. A beautiful goal that.

45' All even at the half, and a much different 45 minutes than from four years ago. Both teams attacking well, and this is nothing but a masterpiece thus far.

50' The rain really coming down hard now, and this might pose problems for the keepers. An Iniesta shot isn't handled well by the dutch keeper, and you have to wonder if perhaps this will lead to a hockey style goal, put a shot on target and collect the rebound into the back of the net.

53' And its Robben who gives the Dutch the lead with some beautiful finishing, and a lucky deflection off of Sergio Ramos. That's unlucky for Casillas, and a bit of sweet revenge for the Dutch and Robben in particular.

60' And thats nearly 3 for the dutch. A beautiful run by Robben sees van Persie send a powerful half volley into the crossbar. And the Dutch are exposing all kinds of holes in the Spanish defense.

64' A free kick awarded for a faux hand ball to the dutch gets in to the far post and a gentle header sends the ball in for the dutch. Persie challenging Casillas, but he has to do better in the air. And one can only think that a younger Casillas would never have let that past him.

67' Spain nearly draw one back, a header on goal that isn't handled well, but David Silva is flagged offsides and his shot into the back of the net wont count. A minute later its a save by Casillas on a van Persie shot to keep the game manageable for Spain.

73' More disaster for Spain, as Casillas has a horrible first touch on a back pass and van Persie collects the ball and slots it home. and the Dutch proving Mourinho's benching of Casillas correct, and I dont think anyone expected this scoreline.

80' The game entering landslide territory now. Robben chasing down a long ball and getting there before Sergio Ramos. Ramos runs around Casillas and finishes strongly. And no one is talking about the Spanish dynasty anymore. Five straight goals for the Dutch, and spain have come undone.

87' Well Casillas finally doing a bit of brilliant keeping, making two excellent saves to keep the dutch at 5. That will do well to restore some semblance of confidence, and it truly was a beautiful half volley by Robben seeking the hat trick.

Final' The Dutch prove that the 3-0 drubbing Brasil gave Spain last time they played in this country wasn't a fluke, and Spain completely unravel. One major mistake by Casillas, one unlucky deflection, two major mistakes by Sergio Ramos, and the Dutch do excellently capitalizing. The dutch full of confidence moving forward now, and the trio of Robben, van Persie, and Sneijder looked at their best. The Spanish with some major holes in defense they'll need to patch up.
